“Active Sound Meditation with Theta Drum“.

A simple yet very powerful meditation to do while playing your Theta Drum, which helps you to harmonize your breathing with the sea

MEDITATION:

Sit in a comfortable position, being sure to keep all parts of your body relaxed, and breathe deeply.

Take the Theta Drum and hold it a little above your legs, then begin to tilt it slightly from side to side to set the beads inside in motion.

Let yourself be guided by the vibration of the Theta Drum’s lower sounds. Feel how they make the wooden frame you are holding vibrate.

Associate the vibration you are feeling in your hands with that darker sound, seemingly the one most difficult to perceive.

Use your eyes to follow the movement of the smallest beads. Follow the movement as you begin to recognize their higher-pitched, clearer, and distinct sound.

Experience all of the Theta Drum’s sounds as you increasingly feel at one with the sea’s breathing

Imagine yourself on a beautiful beach, the most beautiful and peaceful beach imaginable.

The sky is an intense, clear blue. Imagine walking slowly along the water’s edge, looking at your footprints from time to time.

With each step, you feel progressively more deeply rooted in the ground that supports you and you feel the fresh, wet, compact sand.

Breathe.

Go back to observing the trajectories of the Theta Drum’s beads and try to harmonize that sound with your breathing. Your breathing is like a wave in the sea. It rises during inhalation, reaches its peak, and then falls, just like a wave, fading away during exhalation.
You can also imagine riding a wave with your breath. Inhaling, you go up with the wave; exhaling, you go down. Inhaling, you go up; exhaling, you go down…

Our breath is like the waves in the sea, at times towering and restless, other times calm and placid. Still, whatever the condition, neither your breath, nor the wave cease to exist but are constantly re-forming.

Breathe.

When you feel that the Theta Drum in your hands is moving in sync with your breathing, observe everything that happens inside and outside yourself without being disturbed, without reasoning, without judgement. Thoughts, images, memories, moods, physical sensations, smells, sounds. Welcome them and let them flow.

You’re playing the sound of your sea.

Feel one with your Theta Drum as you move it to your own beat. Abandon yourself to the primordial sound of the waves and the surf. This is your personal sound – unique, wonderful, unrepeatable. You find a sense of calm and of renewal in this sound,

You are the sea.

Now that you’re familiar with the instrument, experiment freely with all the sounds you can imagine, just as a child would. Shake it, rock it back and forth quickly, tap it with your fingers, sing along with its sound.

We are like water, vast and deep oceans, turbulent and agitated at times, violently tempestuous at others, but also placid and serene in our depths.

Like the sea, we too have the ability to accept any situation because of our profound awareness that no “external” condition can change our intrinsic structure, that world below the surface continues to live peacefully and inviolably in its totality.

Now that you’ve found the sea’s unique voice that breathes inside you, smile! It was a lovely trip, the most beautiful and rejuvenating holiday you’ve ever had.

Now you can also dedicate yourself to others. Bring the sea’s spirit into the world, to children, the elderly, those who are happy, those who are going through a difficult time, and those who are simply trying to reconnect to the great life force that has always flowed within us.
